SoftBank Leads Funding Round Valuing SambaNova at $5 Billion

SoftBank Group Corp. is leading a $676 million funding round for SambaNova Systems Inc., a company whose hardware and software is used to run artificial intelligence applications.
The investment, valuing the startup at $5 billion will come from SoftBank Vision Fund 2. Temasek and GIC will also invest in the company for the first time, according to a statement reviewed by Bloomberg News. Other investors in the round include funds managed by BlackRock Inc., Intel Capital, GV and Walden International.
