The founder of South Korea’s ubiquitous mobile-messenger operator Kakao Corp. has signed the Giving Pledge initiative, promising to give away most of his fortune to help solve social issues.

Brian Kim’s move comes after he pledged in a New Year’s message to Kakao employees to donate more than half of his wealth to the cause. He joins fellow countryman Kim Bong-jin, the founder of food-delivery app Woowa Brothers Corp., who signed the Giving Pledge with his wife last month.
