WhatsApp’s New Terms Spur Downloads of Messaging Rivals

Changes in WhatsApp’s user agreement sparked a social-media frenzy when they became known, but there’s little evidence customers are using the messaging service owned by Facebook Inc. much less, according to Bloomberg Opinion’s Alex Webb. While downloads of rivals surged after the new terms were publicized, WhatsApp’s popularity eased just a smidgen, according to data from Apptopia. And even after the increase, Signal has just 8.3 million daily users and Telegram 44 million -- barely rounding errors compared with the 2 billion users on WhatsApp.
