Mexico City’s Covid-19 cases are on track to swamp the city’s hospitals, a consortium of academics says.

By mid-January, hospitalization needs in the capital’s metropolitan area will reach nearly 50% more than the current capacity of about 10,000 beds, even assuming more social distancing during the holidays, according to a study by Stanford University and Mexico’s Center for Research and Teaching in Economics (CIDE).
