Iceland aims to achieve herd immunity by vaccinating 75% of its population against Covid-19 by the end of March.

A contract with Pfizer for enough vaccines to inoculate 85,000 people is expected to be signed next week, the Health Ministry said in a statement. Iceland, which is covered by the European Union’s procurement program, has already entered an agreement with AstraZeneca for enough doses to vaccinate 115,000 individuals. Agreements with Moderna and Janssen are also in the works, it said.
