Australian central bank No. 2 Guy Debelle said market expectations of further monetary easing had helped drive down the local currency for a positive effect on the economy.

The easing was also keeping the Australian dollar and bond yields below levels where they might otherwise be, he said in speech to economists on Tuesday.
