Two-Wheelers Dominate Southeast Asia Vehicle Fleet

Economic growth and rising populations have driven up demand for transport in Southeast Asia. The lack of investment in adequate public transport infrastructure in many countries has increased the reliance on private road transport, especially on two-wheelers, in major cities. This has led to a rapid growth in the vehicle fleet in the region in the last decade to over 266 million vehicles in 2019. Some 78% of these vehicles are two-wheelers. Passenger vehicles make up just 15% of the fleet.
