The British Parliament voted to back Boris Johnson’s fresh coronavirus lockdown after the prime minister warned England faces the “risk of mortality on a grievous scale” if lawmakers failed to approve the plan.
The National Health Service would be in “extraordinary trouble” without urgent action to curb the virus, with sick patients turned away and doctors forced to make “impossible choices” on who would receive oxygen, Johnson said.
