Norway May Hike Rates Much Earlier Than Signaled, Agency Says

Norges Bank will probably raise its main interest rate a good deal earlier than the bank’s own forecasts suggest, according to Norway’s statistics agency.
The bank’s official guidance currently indicates a hike toward the end of 2022. But on Friday, Statistics Norway published estimates that point to a series of rate rises starting mid-2021. It sees the main rate, which is currently zero, rising to 0.75% by the end of 2023.
