Member State Hydrogen Policies Lag Behind EU Plan

The EU's new hydrogen strategy launched on July 8 testifies to its climate ambition under the European New Deal. Achieving the plan’s targets and investment figures could catapult hydrogen technology to maturity, but little will be achieved without engagement from member states. Yet achieving the deployment targets announced by EU governments to date would see just 10GW of electrolyzers built by 2030 and only 16GW by 2040, a far cry from the 40GW by 2030 targeted by the Commission.
