Canada’s plans for record-setting population growth are being sidelined by the coronavirus.

In April, with the country under widespread lockdowns due to the pandemic, Canada admitted only 4,140 new permanent residents. That was down 85% from the same month last year. The number of study visas declined 41% from the previous April, to 19,040.
