Britons Favor Saving as Pandemic Keeps Economic Confidence Weak

Britons are looking to boost their savings as they seek security from the bleak economic repercussions of the coronavirus pandemic.

A savings index compiled with GfK spiked between April 20-26, even as plummeting confidence in the outlook for the economy and personal finances stabilized. The research group’s overall flash measure of sentiment held near the lowest level since the financial crisis in 2008, it said.
