Italy Reports Fewest Virus Fatalities in More Than Five Weeks

Italy on Friday posted its fewest coronavirus fatalities in more than five weeks as the government pavedBloomberg Terminal the way for a new stimulus package to revive an economy stalled by containment measures.

Civil defense authorities reported 420 deaths linked to the virus for the 24-hour period -- the fewest since March 17 -- compared with 464 the day before. That brings the total number of fatalities to 25,969. Confirmed cases now total 192,994.
