China plans to force international flights bound for Beijing to first stop in another city so that flyers can be examined for signs they may be infected by the coronavirus, according to people familiar with the situation.
Passengers found to show symptoms will be barred from traveling onto the Chinese capital and will instead be quarantined in the city where they were tested, said the people, who asked not to be identified as the plans have yet to be announced. The new rules, set to become effective on Thursday, would force Beijing-bound flights to land first in cities including Tianjin, Shijiazhuang, Hohhot and Taiyuan, all in the vicinity of the capital, they said.
