President Donald Trump declared a national emergency on Friday over the coronavirus crisis, as he announced a set of measures to address a shortage in testing kits and cushion the economic fallout from the outbreak.

Speaking in the White House Rose Garden, Trump announced a range of actions, including decisions to waive student-loan interest, purchase large quantities of oil, set up drive-through virus testing in Walmart and Target parking lots, and confer new authority on his health secretary to bypass hospital regulations.
