Germany’s leading utilities and environmental groups stepped up pressure on Chancellor Angela Merkel to fix a system that has stalled growth in installing wind and solar farms.
The groups led by the BDEW utilities federation and 14 other organizations urged Merkel to take steps to “effectively force” a return to expansion in clean-energy. The request came in a March 10 letter appealing directly to the chancellor give a “kick-start” to the industry.
