Economists are torn whether the European Central Bank will unleash monetary stimulus next week to join their peers in fighting the biggest shock to the global economy since the financial crisis.

Even after central banks across the world took action to pre-empt fallout from the coronavirus outbreak, some 60% of those surveyed by BloombergBloomberg Terminal predict ECB policy makers will refrain from lowering interest rates, with the rest predicting a cut.
