Michael Bloomberg spent $220.4 million on his Democratic presidential campaign in January, his campaign said, the highest monthly expenditure of any candidate in history.

Overall, he spent $409 million since launching his campaign in late November, dwarfing the outlays of his Democratic rivals. That includes $258.7 million on television advertising, $53.6 million on digital advertising and $7.3 million on polling, according to figures the campaign said it was filing with the Federal Election Commission.
