Egypt will review the prices of commodities covered by the ration card system quarterly, Supply Minister Ali El Moselhy said in an interview Monday, as the government pushes ahead with efforts to overhaul the costly subsidy system.
Changes to the prices of commodities offered under a subsidy program that covers almost three-quarters of the country’s 100 million people will be based on the Egyptian pound’s exchange rate against the U.S. dollar and their price on the international market, El Moselhy said.
