Yemen’s prime minister said government forces on Wednesday regained control of Aden from southern separatists after reports of fierce fighting in the strategic port city. The claim couldn’t be independently verified and some residents contacted by phone disputed it.

“The return of the state to Aden is a win for all people,” Maeen Abdulmalik Saeed said on Twitter, adding that orders had been issued to restore security for the city’s people.
