Drillinginfo Inc. is changing its name to Enverus in an effort to broaden its appeal beyond the oil patch.
Allen Gilmer, who co-founded the Austin-based industry consulting firm 20 years ago, said he never really loved the name, but stuck with it as the provider of oil-well data turned into a recognizable brand name among explorers and producers. Now the firm generates roughly 60% of sales from explorers, and the rest from areas such as refining, chemicals and power.
