One of Steve Cohen’s best investments this year may be his former protege.
Gabriel Plotkin, who spent eight years working for the billionaire, saw his hedge fund Melvin Capital Management surge about 44% in the first half, according to people with knowledge of the matter. Cohen’s $14 billion hedge fund, Point72 Asset Management, has about $1 billion invested with Plotkin.
