Greece’s center-right New Democracy party leader Kyriakos Mitsotakis will take over Monday as prime minister, after Sunday’s election victory handed the former banker a mandate to tackle the nation’s chronic woes following a decade-long financial crisis.

New Democracy won 39.9% of the vote, with almost the ballots counted, according to the interior ministry, compared with 31.5% for the leftist Syriza party of outgoing premier Alexis Tsipras.
