Filings for U.S. unemployment benefits declinedfor the second time in three weeks, a sign the labor market isholding up, data showed Wednesday ahead of the June jobs reportlater this week.
Jobless claims dropped to 221,000 in the week ended June 29,according to Labor Department figures that were close to themedian estimate in Bloomberg’s survey of economists. The four-week average, a less-volatile measure, edged up.
