The Canadian government believes there’s now less urgency to make a decision on whether to ban Huawei Technologies Co. from 5G telecommunications systems -- and that ruling could now come after the October federal election, officials familiar with the matter say.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s government believes it’s facing less pressure from telecommunications firms than before to make a decision, the officials said, speaking on condition of anonymity because they weren’t authorized to discuss the matter.
