Thomas Kempner, co-founder of the $30 billion Davidson Kempner Capital Management, is retiring at the end of the year, leaving one of the oldest and largest hedge funds to the next generation of investors.

Tony Yoseloff, 44, who has been at the firm two decades, will take over as sole head -- the hedge fund’s third leader in 36 years, according to a letter sent to investors Tuesday. The succession has been several years in the works, with Yoseloff having been named co-executive managing member in January 2018.
