Drop in School Enrollment Seen in California: Demographic Trends

Going forth, teacher unions in about one third of states may lose some bargaining power.
Recently released projections from the National Center for Educational Services shows that between 2018 and 2027, about one third of states will see a reduction in the number of students. The largest declines coming from California, Illinois and Michigan, followed by Connecticut, New Jersey and New York. The number of students in California is expected to fall by 226,300 from 2018 to 2027.
