President Donald Trump backed Venezuela’s National Assembly leader Juan Guaido as the country’s legitimate leader on Wednesday, paving the way for allies across Latin America to do the same. President Nicolas Maduro has called the move a coup and still holds the support of allies China, Russia, Cuba and Turkey. Nations including members of the European Union are withholding support for either leader and instead calling for immediate talks and an election.
