Italy’s squabbling populist coalition partners are seeking an agreement on key parts of the country’s contentious 2019 budget in a bid to gain European Union approval and avoid sanctions.

Italy has identified about 3 billion euros ($3.4 billion) of additional funds that could cover a budget deficit of 2.04 percent of output, a government official said.
