Tobacco giant Altria Group Inc. is temporarily pulling some of its alternatives to cigarettes from the shelves as the U.S. Food and Drug Administration cracks down on skyrocketing teen usage.
The company that produces Marlboro for sale in the U.S. said it will remove its pod-based products, MarkTen Elite and Apex by MarkTen, from the market until the FDA gives the green light. It will also stop selling Nu Mark cigarette alternatives in flavors other than tobacco, menthol and mint until granted the agency’s go-ahead. These measures will remove roughly 20 percent of the company’s e-vapor volume.
