Ashkin, Mourou, Strickland Win Nobel Prize in Physics

Arthur Ashkin, Gerard Mourou and Donna Strickland were awarded the 2018 Nobel Prize in Physics for their inventions in the field of laser physics.
Ashkin was awarded the prize for the "optical tweezers and their application to biological systems," the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences said in a statement on Tuesday. Mourou and Strickland won for their method of generating "high-intensity, ultra-short optical pulses."
