Gold won’t buy as much beer at this year’s Oktoberfest after the precious metal slumped almost 10 percent and brew prices climbed in 2018. An ounce of gold will fetch 92.8 liters of beer at the German festival which starts Saturday, the lowest since 2009, according to Incrementum AG, a Lichtenstein-based asset management firm. Gold is often compared with prices of stocks and other commodities such as silver and crude oil, but the relation to beer “is a chart that everybody loves,” said Ronald-Peter Stoeferle, a managing partner at Incrementum.
