More Than Two-Thirds of American Adults Are Overweight or Obese

Obesity -- associated with hypertension, high cholesterol and type 2 diabetes -- is on an unrelenting march across the U.S.

Centers for Disease Control data show the incidence of obesity among adults age 20 years and older increased from 30.5 percent in 1999-2002 to 38.9 percent in 2013-2016. In 2015–2016, the prevalence of being overweight or obese among adult men was 75 percent and 67.8 percent for women.
