Southeast Asian nations agreed in-principle on Wednesday to adopt cybersecurity rules following major data breaches in countries including Singapore and Bangladesh.

Ministers in the 10-member Association of Southeast Asian Nations agreed to 11 voluntary, non-binding norms of responsible behavior to strengthen cybersecurity, which were proposed by the United Nations in 2015. They also signed off on regional capacity-building in implementing these norms.
