Nigeria’s ruling party lost its majority in the Senate after the defections of more than a dozen lawmakers to a swelling opposition coalition that’s seeking to unseat President Muhammadu Buhari in February elections.

Fifteen senators quit Buhari’s All Progressives Congress on Tuesday, the last working day of the summer, the 109-seat chamber’s press service said in a statement. All but two of those lawmakers joined the People’s Democratic Party, which lost power in 2015 after ruling for 16 years.
