Sudanese President Umar al-Bashir plans to attend the soccer World Cup final in Russia, the latest trip for the leader whose arrest warrant by the International Criminal Court restricts which countries he can visit.
Al-Bashir’s plan to attend the July 15 match between France and Croatia follows an invitation from Russian President Vladimir Putin, Sudan’s presidency said Thursday in a statement. During his three-day trip, al-Bashir will also hold talks on Russia’s efforts to help modernize Sudan’s army, it said.
