Senate Democrats trying to rally opposition to Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh are portraying him as a potential threat to the Russia investigation by special counsel Robert Mueller.

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer said that of the 25 names on President Donald Trump’s list of possible high court nominees, “he chose the candidate who he thought would best protect him from the Mueller investigation.” The Senate shouldn’t consider Kavanaugh until the nominee “specifically commits to recuse himself” from any criminal investigations concerning the president, Senator Richard Blumenthal said.
