Sweden Is a Decade Ahead of Target on Renewables

The Scandinavian country is set to hit its goal for renewable energy more than 10 years before schedule

Ahead of Time

Swedish utilities and power generators have already installed so many wind turbines that the Nordic nation is on course to reach its 2030 renewable energy target late this year. Sweden will have 3,681 wind turbines by the end of 2018 and together with probable investment decisions in the second half, the overall capacity will be enough to generate 18 terawatt-hours annually, according to a forecast by the Swedish Wind Energy Association.
