Fiat Chrysler Automobiles NV is developing contingency plans to adjust its manufacturing footprint should President Donald Trump’s hardball trade tactics result in higher auto tariffs or the collapse of existing trade agreements.

The Italian-American automaker has been entertaining alternative production plans since Trump was elected, said Bob Lee, the powertrain leader on Chief Executive Officer Sergio Marchionne’s 25-member Group Executive Council.
