Sales of electric vehicles jumped nearly 50 percent from a year ago in May

Tesla Inc. delivered an estimated 6,250 of its Model 3 electric vehicles in May, taking one-fourth of the EV sales in the U.S. and contributing to the third-highest total on record, according to Bloomberg New Energy Finance’s monthly tracking report. EVs now account for 1.5 percent of new-car sales. BNEF forecasts that sales will reach 315,000 this year, up from 198,000 in 2017.
