SunTrust Banks Inc., Georgia’s largest lender, said it’s investigating a former employee that might have stolen personal data on 1.5 million customers.

Information such as names, addresses, phone numbers and account balances might have been exposed, the Atlanta-based lender said Friday in a statementBloomberg Terminal. The company, which will notify customers, also said it’s working with outside experts and coordinating with law enforcement. It said on a conference call that the employee may have tried to share the data with “a criminal third party.”
