Los Angeles Buildings Sway as Earthquake Hits Off Coast

Buildings swayed across Los Angeles and in communities north of the city as an earthquake struck offshore near the Channel Islands.
The quake registered a magnitude of 5.3 and was centered about 36 miles west of the coast of Southern California, according to an alert from the U.S. Geological Survey. The closest major city was Ventura.
