The U.S. labor market still has plenty of room to run.

That’s the message from government data on Friday, which gave multiple indications America’s jobs situation isn’t as tight as previously thought, sending stocks and bond yields higher. Employers added the most workers since mid-2016, the participation rate rose by the most in almost eight years despite downward pressure from retiring baby boomers, and wage gains cooled from a pace that spurred financial turbulence last month.
