Sinclair Would Sell Stations in New York, Chicago to Meet Limits

Sinclair Broadcast Group Inc. said it would sell TV stations in New York, Chicago and elsewhere to meet media ownership limits as it seeks U.S. regulators’ permission to buy Tribune Media Co.

Sale agreements have been struck for New York’s WPIX and Chicago’s WGN, Sinclair said without identifying the buyers in a filing Wednesday with the Federal Communications Commission. The station sales would take place around the time the $3.9 billion deal proposed in May is completed, according to the filing.
