Former Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe won’t face prosecution and is free to remain in the southern African nation following his resignation on Tuesday after 37 years in power.
“There aren’t any plans for former President Robert Mugabe; he’s free to stay in Zimbabwe and he won’t face prosecution,” Simon Khaya Moyo, a spokesman for the ruling Zimbabwe African National Union-Patriotic Front, said Thursday by phone. “We don’t have anything against him or his family. He’s the hero of our liberation.”
