Electric Cars Make Inroads in Europe

Hybrid and battery-powered vehicle sales top 2% in U.K. with Germany close behind

Diesel car sales are tumbling and electric vehicles are reaping some of the benefits, according to Bloomberg New Energy Finance’s Aleksandra O’Donovan. In October, electric-car sales climbed 45 percent from the year before in the U.K., taking market share to a record 2 percent, and added 48 percent in Germany. Plug-in hybrids took the largest slice of the electric market in both countries.
