Monro Inc. is in talks with Amazon.com Inc. to offer tire installation services to drivers who buy online from the e-commerce giant.
The Rochester, New York-based car maintenance chain -- which sells tires itself -- offers similar services to online sellers Tire Rack Inc. and TireBuyer.com. The service component of Monro’s business makes it “well-insulated” from the rise of e-commerce, and install agreements help Monro reach new customers, Chief Executive Officer Brett Ponton said on a conference call Tuesday.
