This Asian City Has the Most Active Walkers on Earth

With motorbikes zipping through sidewalks to bypass traffic and the lack of greenery to shade pedestrians from the intense sun, it’s no wonder Indonesians drag their feet when it comes to walking. The fourth most populous nation in the world ranked last among 46 countries surveyed, clocking just an average of 3,513 steps per day, according to a study published by Stanford University. Researchers found that people living in Hong Kong were the most active walkers, given the city’s better infrastructure, density and personal safety levels.
