President Donald Trump said Wednesday he will ban transgender people from serving “in any capacity” in the U.S. military, reversing his predecessor’s policy to let them serve openly in the ranks.
White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said she wasn’t sure how the ban would affect military personnel currently deployed in combat areas such as Afghanistan, saying “that’s something that the Department of Defense and the White House will have to work together” to decide.
