The Bank of Japan concludes a two-day board meeting Friday that isn’t expected to bring any change in policy. The focus will be on Governor Haruhiko Kuroda’s press conference and any clues he gives about possible adjustments to his monetary program and an eventual exit from stimulus.

With inflation well below the 2 percent target, the BOJ is far away from ending easing and reducing its asset holdings. But with the Federal Reserve already normalizing policy while the BOJ’s balance sheet approaches the size of the economy, there are growing calls for more public discussion of how to eventually end stimulus.
